I thought that I would rewrite this post, since it was lost in the transfer to a new server …. This is just something that cannot be forgotten.
Recently, I was asking the family if they had any old 8mm films of the family. I would be more than happy to make a video for them, and put it online for them to enjoy it.
Back in the late 80’s, Aunt Mary and I spent one entire afternoon going through each 8mm film (it seemed like a hundred of them) that Uncle John taped; and I took the special ones to a shop and had an awesome video made.
Back then, it sure wasn’t cheap to do that. The ones that we chose, had some very precious moments on it. We had about 4 or 5 VHS tapes made, and then copied others to pass around the family.
But now, with computers right in our homes, it is very easy to just make your own copies.
So that is why I originally asked, if anyone had any old 8mm films of the family, to pass it on.
After the post – The very next day, my cousin Mark called me, and brought me Uncle John and Aunt Mary’s priceless 8mm player, and all of the tapes – yet, he had never read the post that I had. Freaky isn’t it!
So now, I have the player and tapes to go through at the beginning of the year.
I will again, find the best tapes… and THIS TIME, record them to my video camera, then transfer them to my computer.
I don’t have to worry about any audio, because this was not an audio camera. Just video.
So Thank-you Mark… I’ll let you know when I start.
